Statement:
At a meeting of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Housing, Local Government and Heritage on 24th June this year, Dr. Austin O’Carroll called for adult safeguarding reviews where deaths of people experiencing homelessness occurred, in order to try to learn from what happened with a view to improving services.
Safeguarding Ireland would support this approach and would propose that such reviews should be carried out in all instances where there are significant consequences to a victim of adult abuse, exploitation or neglect. Such reviews have the potential to offer valuable learning and improve safeguarding of all adults at risk’.
